Arrested in November 2020, Fatima Al-Shawarbi is an activist who tweeted from an anonymous account, using a pseudonym. On May 31, 2023, the Specialized Criminal Court convicted Al-Shawarbi for criticizing Saudi Arabia’s treatment of the Howeitat tribe, and sentenced her to 30 years in prison and a 30-year and 6-month travel ban. In March 2023, Al-Shawarbi started a hunger strike to protest her imprisonment.
