Ercan Aktaş

Ercan Aktaş, a Turkish journalist, columnist, and literary writer, is currently in exile and living in France. He is facing multiple ongoing trials in Türkiye, including charges of “terror propaganda,” “insulting the Turkish nation,” and “insulting the president” based on past social media posts and writings. A series of hearings continued between 2023 and 2026, including in absentia proceedings. Earlier charges related to his 2015 tweets were dropped in 2024 due to the statute of limitations. He has also been briefly detained in the past over conscientious objection-related accusations.
