Ekaterina Barabesh

Ekaterina Barabesh is a Ukrainian-born film critic and active online commentator, routinely posting about her political and anti-war views. On February 25, 2025, Barabesh was detained for three hours and charged with spreading false news for four Facebook posts in 2022 and 2023. The next day, a Moscow court placed Barabesh under two months’ house arrest ahead of her trial. She was designated as a foreign agent in April 2025 and had her house arrest extended. She will face trial for “fakes against the army.”
