Writing under the pen name Jhon Silver, Palchys ran a website called 1863x where he published articles criticizing Belarusian and Russian authorities. He was jailed in 2016 for his dissident writing, and again in 2020 for his so-called “extremist” blogging on Telegram. After 15 months in detention, in December 2021 he was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
