Yurtaeyeu, a poet and teacher, actively participated in anti-government protests in September 2022. During the protests, he was detained by Belarusian authorities and forced to read his poems on camera, which were later used as evidence against him. He was charged with “insulting Lukashenka” and “inciting social hatred” due to his writings, including posts on Facebook. In April 2023, he was sentenced to two years in prison. He was released in June 2024 after serving part of his sentence.
