Dina Meza, an internationally renowned human rights defender, journalist, and founding member of PEN Honduras, experiences ongoing harassment and surveillance. PEN believes she is targeted for practicing free expression, and that her safety is at risk. In August 2023, Meza found herself involved in a smear campaign that attempted to delegitimize the integrity of her work. The allegations accuse her of being connected to the country's corrupt former president.
