In August 2020, he was arrested at his home by state security agents following a protest. He was charged with contempt and public disorder, and sentenced to 3-years imprisonment. He was released on April 6, 2023. Five days later, he was attacked at his home and rearrested. There is no information about his release after his second arrest.
