Tatour, a Palestinian citizen of Israel, was detained in 2015 for her poetry and social media posts and kept under house arrest for more than two years. She was sentenced to five months in prison in July 2018. While she was released in September on time served, on July 1, 2019, Tatour was informed that the Attorney’s Office appealed the court’s ruling, which had acquitted and cleared her of all charges related to the poem she wrote. The Israeli Supreme Court rejected the State Prosecution’s motion for appeal on September 26, 2019.
