In July 2020, he was granted asylum in New Zealand. He later published Freedom, Only Freedom, a book of his prison writings, and entered Australia in December 2022 for its launch. He now lives in New Zealand and continues to advocate for refugee rights and speak out on global human rights issues, including protests in Iran.
