On March 4, 2020, Barış Terkğlu was arrested for a report published on OdaTV with photos of the funeral of a Turkish officer killed in Syria. In April, he was indicted for “disclosing classified information crucial to the security and interests of the state” and “exposing the contents of documents and information concerning intelligence operations.” Terkğlu was acquitted on September 9, 2020, but put on trial in March 2021 for “making targets of those assigned to combat terrorism,” and sentenced to two years in prison on May 2, 2024. He has not yet been arrested and is planning to appeal.
