Anabel Hernández García

In April 2024, President Obrador launched a public attack against Anabel Hernández Garcia following the release of her book, La Historia Secreta: AMLO y el Cartel de Sinaloa. In April 19 and 29 press conferences, President Obrador accused Garcia of being a “vile slanderer,” and linked the publication of her book to foreign influence and conservative groups allegedly threatened by his government’s reforms. Additionally, on May 17, 2024, Garcia and Penguin Random House had to publicly denounce attempts to censor the release of her book after advertisements for it were blocked across all media.
