Founder of Myrkott Company, film producer, and writer Abdel Aziz al-Muzaini was sentenced to 13 years in prison and a 13-year travel ban by Saudi Arabia’s Terrorism Court for “promoting terrorism and homosexuality through his Netflix show” and old tweets from 2010-2014. On June 27, 2024, a Saudi court upheld Al-Muzaini’s sentence, forcing him to stop work and terminate the contracts of everyone on his team. Following an appeal, his case is currently being heard before the country’s Supreme Court.
