Viorel Capraru

My name is Viorel Capraru, born November 10, 1976 and raised in Southern California. My inspiration comes through many channels – people I meet, places I visit, words and pictures that stir my heart and spirit. When I am inspired, I feel new energy and connect to something bigger than myself. I aspire to reach new heights and achieve goals I may not have imagined possible. Inspiration is always within reach. What inspired me when I wrote my piece on “The Bucket” was the shady characters that prison has to offer. Don’t get it twisted though, there are good people in prison, but the shady ones outnumber them fifty to one. One thing that I’ve learned about prison is that you have to be strong, vigilant, and kind. Kindness is a choice, you know. It costs nothing, yet it is wonderfully fulfilling. When I treat others with kindness, I feel better about myself. Every act of kindness large or small produces joy, peace, and happiness.

Really quick, I just want to thank all of the writers and actors that made “The Bucket” possible. It was a pleasure working with you guys.

For all of the good dues in the prison system – be strong, you will be out there in the concrete jungle soon. I’ll leave you with this: Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21.

The Bucket

“Nine by six cell and small as hell. Not big. I can barely do the James Brown in here, I can bang my head against four walls in four seconds.”
