Steven Reynaldo Perez was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1978. He is a Creative Writing and Literature student at the University of Texas Austin under Professor Deb Olin Unferth. He is a staunch advocate against the AEDPA, the PLRA, the one-writ rule, illegal convictions and sentences, crooked judges and prosecutors, and mass incarceration. His published memoirs include “The Promise,” “Mom’s Still Sick,” and “Painful Days.” He is serving a 60-year sentence at the Connally Unit in Texas State Prison.
