Elodie Vialle is a consultant for PEN America’s Online Abuse Defense Program. She is a journalist working at the intersection of journalism, technology, and human rights, with a focus on countering online abuse of journalists while protecting freedom of expression. Vialle is also an affiliate at the Berkman Klein Center and an advisory board member at the Coalition Against Online Violence. She was previously a Knight-Wallace Fellow at the University of Michigan and the head of the Technology desk at Reporters without Borders in Paris, where she monitored emerging threats undermining journalism and developed projects to defend the freedom of online information. As an international media consultant, she has supported the improvement of news coverage in Francophone countries through the use of new technologies for the last 10 years. She was editor-in-chief of an online publication dedicated to social innovation and the nonprofit sector, hosted a program on changemaking initiatives at the national French radio channel France Inter, and began her career as a television journalist at the main French television news channel.
