Victor Chunga has an AA in Psychology and is enrolled in Mount Saint Mary College pursuing a BA in Sociology. He is a certified paralegal and American Sign Language Interpreter for Deaf inmates. During lockdown in 2021, he published his first fiction book, The Ones Who Survive, under the name Victor Manuel. In 2017, he received an Honorable Mention from PEN America for his story, “In My Time.” His nonfiction work has been featured in Black & Pink and New York Writers Coalition events. He was awarded Third Place in Nonfiction in PEN America’s 2024 PEN Prison Writing Award for his essay, “Am I Sober?”
