Sharon Dennis Wyeth has written picture books, historical fiction and young adult contemporary novels since 1989. Her Children’s Book Council Notable Books include The Granddaughter Necklace, a book based on family oral tradition, Something Beautiful, a child’s search for beauty, and Freedom’s Wings, part one of Corey’s Underground Railroad Diaries. Other honors include Parents’ Magazine Best Book, Reading Rainbow Book, New York Public Library One Hundred Titles for Reading and Sharing, New York Public Library Book for the Teen Age, LAMBDA Literary Award Finalist and the National Council of Negro Women Education Award. Ms. Wyeth’s work reflects her deeply held interests: family, identity, poverty, racial harmony, African American history, literacy, and the transformative power of beauty.
