Writer, coffee shop manager, and long-time New York City resident, Paul Rome was born and raised in suburban Massachusetts, where his parents met over a heated tennis match. After attending NYU’s Gallatin School, Rome began his first novel. Surviving countless edits and multiple formative relationships, We All Sleep in the Same Room was released by by Rare Bird Books on November 5th, 2013.
Rome, who lists among his influences writer James Salter and radio fiction innovator Joe Frank, has a growing profile for his own audio fiction and performance literature. In 2012, Rome’s Calypso sold out six nights at the Bushwick Starr theatre in Brooklyn, and was described by Electric Literature as “an intriguing blend of theatre, reading, music, and literary interpretation that addresses the intersection of the contemporary and the classical as it closes the divide between text and performance.”
