Olivia Vinson

Summer 2023 Free Expression Fellow

Olivia Vinson is a recent graduate from the State University of New York at Binghamton University with a major in English and minors in human rights and Spanish. She has done extensive work on the Guantánamo Bay detention facility through examinations into United States censorship and the narratives of former detainees. Olivia also has interests in refugee and asylum rights studies; she has worked both domestically and internationally in law clinics to support refugee family reunification and those seeking to make asylum applications. She will be pursuing a Masters of Human Rights degree at Columbia University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences starting in the Fall of 2023, where she hopes to focus on international law and continue her work with Guantánamo Bay detainees and asylum seekers.
