Marilyn Nelson’s latest collections are Faster Than Light: New and Selected Poems (2012) and How I Discovered Poetry. She is professor emerita of English at the University of Connecticut and held the office of Poet Laureate of the State of Connecticut from 2001 to 2006. In 2012 she was awarded the Robert Frost Medal for distinguished lifetime achievement in poetry. In 2013 she was elected a chancellor of the Academy of American Poets. The current poet in residence of the American Poets Corner at The Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, she is writing about several famous nuns.
