He is the author of a history of China’s economic reinvention, Unlikely Partners: Chinese Reformers, Western Economists, and the Making of Global China (Harvard University Press, 2017). His reviews and essays have appeared in The American Scholar, The Economist, Foreign Affairs, the Financial Times, and the Washington Post.
