Iain Galbraith was born in Scotland and studied languages and literature at the universities of Cambridge, Freiburg, and Mainz. A winner of the John Dryden Translation Prize and Stephen Spender Prize for Poetry Translation, he is the editor of five poetry anthologies, while his own poems have appeared in Poetry Review, PN Review, Times Literary Supplement, and elsewhere. His book-length translations include Alfred Kolleritsch’s Selected Poems (2007), W.G. Sebald’s Across the Land and the Water (2011), John Burnside’s selected poems in German, Anweisungen für eine Himmelsbestattung (2016), and Jan Wagner’s Self-portrait with a Swarm of Bees (2015), for which he received the 2015 Popescu European Poetry Translation Prize.
