A person, reminiscent of a Dietlind Lerner illustration, relaxes on a colorful hammock with a book in one hand, wrapped in a blue blanket, gently holding an orange cat. Green bushes form the peaceful background.

Dietlind Lerner

Dietlind Lerner is a strategic communications and program development consultant.

Dietlind began her career as a journalist and TV field producer, reporting from across Europe and Africa on political and social justice issues for French, German, British and American outlets. Her work earned several honors, including the Prix Olivier Quemener (Reporters Sans Frontières) and a shortlist nomination for the prestigious Prix Albert Londres.

Motivated by injustices she encountered in the field, Dietlind transitioned into mission-driven communications and went on to serve as communications director for the Open Government Partnership, the Financial Transparency Coalition, and the Center for Justice and Accountability. She founded her consultancy, dietlind.net, in 2019 and has since provided strategic support to a range of international clients. She also directs the Daniel Haufler Journalism Fellowship, which brings mid-career German journalists to Washington and New York for an intensive exploration of the U.S. media landscape.

Career highlights include hosting a press conference aboard a Greenpeace ship sailing the Congo River, campaigning for international tax transparency standards, and supporting war crimes prosecutions in Ukraine.
