Clarice Thomas was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI. She received a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science and a Master of Education from Grand Valley State University. In 2018, Thomas earned a Ph.D. in teaching and learning from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. Thomas is a former adult education instructor and continues to work in the education field as a college instructor and researcher. Her academic scholarship focuses on the school-to-prison nexus and teacher education. Her work has been published in numerous journals and presented at international, national, and regional conferences. Thomas uses research to center the voices of individuals who have experienced incarceration.
