Auriane Benabou is the fellow with PEN America’s Artists at Risk Connection project. She is a recent graduate of Brown University, where she pursued a BA in environmental studies and Slavic studies as well as a MA in Slavic studies. During her time at Brown, she wrote for the campus music magazine, ran a Russian language karaoke group, and completed a thesis on grassroots environmental protests in Arkhangelsk, Russia. Her interests also include drawing and printmaking, going to museums, and learning new recipes.
