Anu Yadav is an actress, playwright, and theater-based educator dedicated to art and social justice. She wrote and performed the solo plays Meena’s Dream and ‘Capers, cofounded the storytelling project CLASSLINES on wealth and poverty, and wrote The Princess and the Pauper, a feminist adaptation of the Mark Twain tale. She is a 2018 inaugural D.C. Public Library Artist-in-Residence, 2018 D.C. Artist Fellow, Alternate ROOTS grantee and member, and member of Actor’s Equity Association, the Dramatist’s Guild, Network of Ensemble Theaters, and the new Poor People’s Campaign. She is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College, holds an MFA in performance from the University of Maryland, College Park, and was named a “Person to Watch” in American Theatre Magazine. She is currently developing Soul Tent Stories, one-minute audio stories inspired by the Poor People’s Campaign, and a theatrical variety show about systemic poverty.
