Annelise Eileraas

Fall 2023 Free Expression Fellow

Annelise Eileraas is double-majoring in English and Political Science at Barnard College of Columbia University. Selected as a WNYC Radio Rookie to investigate what must be done about the teenage mental health crisis in America, she is creating, editing and producing a radio segment to illuminate the breakdown of integrated family protective services and social support networks during the COVID-19 pandemic. As Founder of the Barnard Bold Print News, Annelise is further dedicated to bridging the gulf between traditional and contemporary media and passionate about increasing multimedia literacy around the world, especially in her capacity as a PEN America Freedom of Expression Fellow and a Free Expression Program Fellow and delegate with PEN to the 2023 UNESCO World Press Freedom Day as well as delegate to the 2021 UN Commission on the Status of Women with Girls Learn International-Ms. Foundation. As Co-Founder of CityStep Columbia and Gravity Platforms Incorporated Board Director of Social Impact, Annelise mentors youth in dance, technology, and social impact–movements both creative and innovative.
