Air Pressure
I’ve seen wind go mad
in the skies of Arkansas; sticks
like straw, stuck through plumb
trees, poles, and all
the pieces of life
caught in the turning,
as the sound of a train
churns through hills, hollers;
that quiet before the storm
when eyes search through eyes
in a root cellar full of fear;
spiders. Its air so unfamiliar.
