Red Wheelbarrow: A Banned Books Week Reading

A close-up of several colorful banned books, including A Clockwork Orange, with a red banner reading Banned Books Week 2025. Event details for a banned books reading in Columbus, Ohio, are shown below.

Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD), in collaboration with PEN Ohio, will honor Banned Books Week with a special edition of its student-faculty reading series, Red Wheelbarrow.

Students, faculty, and community guests will share passages from banned and challenged books, celebrating the freedom to read and the power of diverse voices. Featured guest readers include poets Sara Abou Rashed, Cynthia Amoah, Marcus Jackson, and others. The event takes place outdoors on CCAD’s Quad (rain location: Canzani Screening Room or Auditorium).

Banned Books Week is a national campaign that raises awareness about ongoing attempts to remove books from public and school libraries. It is organized and supported by a coalition of groups, including the American Library Association, the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, and GLAAD.
