Sepideh Gholian

Reporter, writer, and activist Sepideh Gholian has been targeted by authorities since 2018. She was imprisoned in July 2020 to serve a 5-year sentence for “propaganda” and “disturbing the public mind.” She was released in March 2023 for medical reasons but was rearrested on the same day after a video was posted of her unveiled and chanting her support for protests. She was sentenced to 15 months in prison in September. She was released from prison in June 2025, but rearrested in December along with Narges Mohammadi and other activists while taking part in a memorial service in Mashhad. She is currently serving a 6-month sentence for "collusion" and "propaganda."
