Oleg Kuvaev

Oleg Kuvaev is a Russian animator and creator of the satirical animated web series “Maysana." Kuvaev has lived in Israel since the 2000s, but has been targeted by the Russian government for his outspoken political views and the content of his creative work. After an anti-war episode of "Masyana" was released in March 2022, the show’s website was blocked in Russia, and Kuvaev went into hiding. In October 2023, a criminal case was filed against Kuvaev for “action against national security” due the episode. In February 2024, Kuvaev was charged in absentia. In November 2024, he was fined in absentia for violating “foreign agent” laws. A second criminal case for this was opened against him in September 2025. Russian authorities also launched an investigation into another episode of "Masyana" in August for "disinformation about the Russian army.". In October, it was reported that authorities were attempting to collect a total of 60,000 rubles in fines from Kuvaev.
