Ekaterina Barabesh

Ekaterina Barabesh is a Ukrainian-born film critic and active online commentator, routinely posting about her political and anti-war views. On February 25, 2025, Barabesh was detained for three hours and charged with spreading false news for four Facebook posts in 2022 and 2023. The next day, a Moscow court placed Barabesh under two months’ house arrest ahead of her trial. She was designated as a foreign agent in April 2025 and had her house arrest extended. She was set to face trial for "fakes against the army." In May, she reported she was in France after having fled Russia.
