Redha Al-Boori

Columnist Redha Al-Boori was arrested in April 2019 during a larger crackdown on dissent targeting writers and commentators, commonly referred to as the "April Campaign" in Saudi Arabia. Prior to his arrest, he had written about regional politics, though he had not been active in years. Al-Boori was reportedly being held at Al-Mabahith Prison in Dammam, and though he appeared before the Specialized Criminal Court, it is unclear whether he was formally charged. In March 2021, he was conditionally released after almost two years of detention.
