Çulhaoğlu is a prolific author and lead columnist for the political publication Türk Solu. His writing and tweets served as evidence of terrorism charges, leading to an over 6-year prison sentence in 2018. In 2020, his conviction was overturned, but again re-opened for trial. In January 2025, he was found guilty and sentenced to a year and 13 months in prison for “aiding a terrorist organization."
