A poet and a member of the Iranian Writers' Association (IWA), Amidi was arrested at her home and taken to an undisclosed location on December 5, 2022. After hours of interrogations, she was accused of conspiracy and collusion with the intention of acting against national security, as well as propaganda against the regime. On January 5, 2023, she was temporarily released on bail of 500 million tomans. As of February 22, 2023, Amidi's legal proceedings had reportedly "stopped" until further notice. Amidi was assaulted by authorites at an IWA memorial ceremony in December 2025.
