Roland Schimmelpfennig

Roland Schimmelpfennig is one of the most-produced European playwrights, and his plays have been translated into over twenty languages. He made his United States debut in 2006 with a production of his play Arabian Night, produced by New York City’s Play Company. In 2010 Schimmelpfennig was awarded the Mülheim Dramatists Prize for his play The Golden Dragon, which premiered at the Burgtheater, Vienna, in 2009 and has since received more than twenty productions worldwide. Schimmelpfennig is the recipient of the highest playwriting award in Germany, the Else Lasker Schüler Prize, in honor of his entire oeuvre.
