Literary intellectual and PEN Belarus member Feduta was arrested in April 2021 in Moscow and quickly extradited to Belarus on “suspicion of committing a crime.” On September 5, 2022, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for plotting “to take power by unconstitutional means.” An ex-Lukashenka campaigner during the 1990s, Feduta was previously imprisoned in 2010 for supporting an opposition candidate.
