Al-Subaie is a student and human rights defender who has advocated for the Bedouin minority and for women’s rights. In June 2021, her home was raided and she was arrested for her online postings condemning the severe punishments against activists advocating reforms to Saudi Arabia’s guardianship system. She has been detained since this date, and was allegedly abused in prison.
