Asha Rosa Ransby-Sporn is an Organizer with Students Against Mass Incarceration and the Black Youth Project 100. She is one of the eight members of the group We Charge Genocide, who traveled to Geneva, Switzerland, in November 2014 to submit a report before the United Nations Committee Against Torture documenting systemic racialized violence by the Chicago Police Department. Drawing on oral testimony and statistical evidence, the report shows that police repression has served to silence and criminalize communities of color in Chicago, an argument that resounds both nationally and globally.
