Wu Huaiyun

Under the name Xinyue Baiyun, Wu Huaiyun is a freelance online writer who comments on current and political affairs. Her articles cannot be accessed on domestic browsers in China, and she has been detained for her expression before. In March 2021, authorities once again detained her for her tweets, and in September 2023, she was sentenced to three years and ten months for “provoking disturbances.” Following her release in January 2025, she has reported continued threats and harassment, including being summoned to the police in April 2025 for posting on social media.
