Neşe İdil, a Turkish journalist and online commentator, is facing multiple legal cases related to her social media posts. In February 2024, she received a suspended sentence of one year and three months for “terror propaganda” related to a 2015 tweet on the Kurdish-majority city of Kobane, with her appeal rejected in March 2024. In April 2025, she was acquitted in a separate case concerning “insulting religious values.” In October 2025, a court ruled that her earlier conviction violated her right to a fair trial and ordered a retrial.
