Layla Saraleva

Layla Saraleva, a Kyrgyz journalist, columnist, online commentator, and creative artist, left Kyrgyzstan in January 2024 amid fears of arrest after her name appeared on a wanted list of editors. As of October 2025, she was reported to be living in Georgia. She faces a criminal case in Kyrgyzstan for “inciting mass unrest” related to Facebook posts analyzing political events, including issues connected to the Kyrgyz–Tajik border. In March 2025, President Sadyr Japarov publicly labeled her “unreliable.”
