Ghorban Behzadian-Nejad is an activist, translator, and scholar. He is a prominent opposition figure with a history of arrests. He was an advisor to reformist candidate Mir-Hossein Mousavi and was involved in Iran's 2009 protests. He was released after serving a 5-year sentence in 2015. He also had his home searched in May 2023 and was sentenced to a year in prison in November 2023 in connection to the Dialogue to Save Iran online conference. He was arrested in February 2026 for signing the "Statement of the 17" alongside others, and was later released on furlough on March 6.
