Don Lemon is an independent journalist and author best known as a former CNN host. On January 30, 2026, Lemon was arrested by federal agents at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, shortly after his reporting on an anti-ICE protest at a church in Minnesota. The protest, which had occurred following the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by ICE officers in Minneapolis, disrupted a service at Cities Church in St. Paul, where one of the church's pastors also works as an ICE official. Lemon was charged with "injuring, intimidating, and interfering" with religious freedom due to his coverage of the protest. He, along with journalist Georgia Fort, was accused of participating in a "takeover-style attack" of Cities Church. Lemon was held overnight in federal custody, and federal officials told his attorneys that his phone was being sent to Minnesota. In the livestream of his coverage of the protest, Lemon stated, "I'm not part of the group .. I'm a journalist." He pled not guilty to the civil charges.
