Doğan Pehlevan

Doğan Pehlevan, a cartoonist at LeMan magazine, was targeted after drawing a satirical cartoon in June 2025. LeMan was heavily targeted by authorities after the publication of the cartoon. Pehlevan was detained in July facing charges of “insulting the president” and “incitement to hatred.” The "insult" charges stemmed from alleged X posts made by him in 2019 and 2024, even though Pehlevan claimed that the account with the posts was not his. Several other LeMan employees were detained and the magazine's website was blocked by Turkish authorities. Pehlevan was released pending trial in November 2025 after a court order. Judicial restrictions against him were lifted by May 2026.
