Ceren Sözeri

Ceren Sözeri, a Turkish scholar, journalist, and columnist at Evrensel, is facing a long-running legal case linked to her writing and public commentary. The civil compensation trial against her began in March 2020 over an article about media ownership, with multiple hearings continuing through 2024 and 2025, including the 13th hearing in December 2025, which was postponed to May. Earlier, in December 2018, she was sentenced to one year and three months in prison for “terrorist propaganda” related to an anti-war petition, though she did not serve prison time.
