Aleksander Khikhel is an Orthodox Christian bard known for social commentary in his music. He was a supporter of the 2020 protests in Belarus. He was detained in June 2025 for his music and accused of distributing and creating extremist content. State media reported that he “sang silly songs against the military operation, our government, Russia, and Victory Day.” Khikhel’s YouTube channel was also designated as extremist and taken offline.
