Temple Beth Sholom Presents: The Librarians

Poster for the film The Librarians shows silhouettes of three people standing by giant books. Film festival logos are below the title. Logos and text for PEN America and Temple Beth Sholom appear at the bottom.

Join Temple Beth Sholom for a special fundraising screening benefiting PEN America Florida and the Freedom to Read Project. The evening features The Librarians, from celebrated director Kim A. Snyder and executive producer Sarah Jessica Parker.

The Librarians tells the harrowing story of librarians on the front lines of the book-ban crisis across the country. With stories from Florida, Texas, Louisiana, and New Jersey, the documentary traces the real-world impact of book bans on students, educators, librarians, and families.

Florida is at the center of this fight. During the 2024–2025 school year, PEN America documented 2,304 instances of book bans in the state. This film offers a chance to better understand what is happening in Florida and in communities across the country.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go to PEN America Florida and the Freedom to Read Project, two Florida-based nonprofits dedicated to fighting for the freedom to read.
