End Academic Censorship at Texas A&M University

Please add your name to the letter below and join PEN America — and the hundreds who have already signed — in sending a strong message in defense of academic freedom to the Texas A&M Board of Regents.
In response to the recent and escalating censorship of courses and course materials at Texas A&M, including the shuttering of the Women’s & Gender Studies Program, we are asking the Regents to rescind the recent changes to system policy that prohibit academic courses from “advocating race or gender ideology, or topics related to sexual orientation or gender identity.” The changes also prohibit faculty from teaching “material that is inconsistent with the approved syllabus for the course,” with no allowance for flexibility.
With your support, we are continuing to defend the academic freedom and freedom to learn of students at Texas A&M and across the state. Please click on the link below to read the letter and add your name in defense of students’ freedom to learn.
