In this week’s Illustrated PEN, Guest Editor MariNaomi presents an excerpt from You & A Bike & A Road, written and illustrated by Eleanor Davis.

MariNaomi writes: Eleanor Davis puts out consistently great work, so much that it amazes me when I’m surprised (each and every time) by how wonderful her work is. This book is no exception, filled with moments that are full of joy, pain, beauty, and trouble. Using minimal lines and words, Eleanor conveys so much about the spectrum of emotions involved with being human.

Eleanor Davis is a cartoonist and illustrator. She lives in Athens, Georgia, and was born in Tucson, Arizona.
